Let’s talk about wine, baby!

Hello, hello!

How’s your weekend going? Are you enjoying any fabulous weather?

Yesterday was beautiful in my neck of the woods!

We grilled out and enjoyed the sunshine and some wine.

I heart wine. 🙂

Did you know that last week was Wine Week out in Las Vegas?

Don’t worry, I missed it too! Boo. 😦

I’m ALL about celebrating wine.

I like to celebrate it all year long. 😉

But, Vegas wine week was just the kickoff to upcoming wine events like UNLVino.

Seriously, how cool is that?! Anyone going? Want company? 😉

And, Las Vegas isn’t just about the shows and gambling – did you know that there are wine bars all over the place out there?

I seriously had no idea there were so many!

Boy, did WE miss out when we went to Vegas a few years ago.

Guess that means we have to go back!

But, until that happens, we’ll just have to celebrate the grape at home. 😉

Of course, we can’t break the bank doing it.

I need to win the lottery. I have expensive tastes.

We happen to be members of two California vineyard’s wine clubs and some of the wines we receive are far from cheap. And we have to plan and save for those and it’s SO TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Oh. Em. Gee.

But, on regular days, we need wine that is good (hey, I have standards after all!) and doesn’t cost so much that my sailor cries.

That’s not a pretty sight. Trust me.

So, I have found some really solid and dependable wines under $20.

Blackstone Merlot is probably one of the most dependable wines you’ll find in the grocery store. Always an excellent choice.

Hey, we were in a hotel. Don’t judge me for my plastic cup.

I absolutely L.O.V.E. all the Middle Sister wines! Check out my other reviews!

For some reason, I don’t have a photo of Bogle Petit Syrah (if your grocery store sells wine, you don’t live in Florida… I mean, you can most likely find it there. I must have been too busy drinking that amazing wine to remember to snap a photo. Trust me. Y.U.M!!

I even have some inexpensive favorites from the state I live it – Virginia!

(I really like everything from Williamsburg Winery but I don’t have any pictures of those bottles. Sorry. I’m a total slacker. And, I’ve only been back in the state since November. Sheesh.)

Bet you didn’t think Virginia wines would rank up there with California wines and win awards. Welp, I’m here to tell you that you have lots to learn!

Don’t worry. I’ll help you. We’ll drink together. It’ll be fun!

Pick out a bottle, uncork that bad boy, grab a glass and pour it out, swirl, sniff, and sip. Or gulp. It’s up to you. 🙂

Talk to me: Do you like wine? Do you prefer red or white? What’s your favorite grape? Do you plan meals around a bottle of wine? (um, guilty!) Have you ever been to Vegas? Can you tell me how you enjoyed your trip or is it one of those “what happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas” moments?

Um, I LOVE wine, I prefer whatever goes with my meal (but I’m partial to red), I love many grapes but Syrah, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir top the list, I am so TOTALLY guilty of planning many a meal around a bottle of wine, Yes, we’ve been to Vegas and it was GREAT! We planned our trip using www.vegas.com and it was fabulous! I made hotel reservations and bought show tickets and planned meals with the assistance of that Web site. I will definitely be using it again! Check it out to help you plan your next trip!

Disclaimer: The contact director from http://www.Vegas.com contacted me and asked me to chime in about all things wine (since they posted about wine week). I happily agreed because wine is awesome! It was just a bonus that we used their Web site to plan our trip. (PS. Go see Zumanity.) 🙂 All opinions are totally my own and I was most definitely NOT compensated for this post and any recommendations made within.
