Snakes, (no snails), & puppy dog tales, and Brandied Berry Milk Shakes!

Hello!  Happy Monday! (Wait, is that even possible?)  Did everyone have a good weekend?

I did!  We went to the Blueberry Festival in Alabama on Saturday and I totally loaded up on blueberries.  There’s no such thing as too many blueberries!  I will freeze quite a few and the rest I will eat fresh as a daisy on cereal, in oatmeal, in muffins, in pies, in cobblers, in milkshakes, in my hand…..  It is a sad, sad day indeed when I don’t have blueberries.

Then, Saturday evening, I grilled dinner!  Well, not until our uninvited visitor was ejected from my potting soil bag RIGHT NEXT TO MY CHARCOAL!?

We’re still not exactly sure WHAT kind of snake he is (possibly a brown water snake) but he was definitely not welcome on my side porch.  He totally would not leave.  My sailor asked him nicely with a broom but he argued.  So, a different implement of destruction came out of the garage.  One not as nice as the broom.  Needless to say, Mr. Snake probably wished he hadn’t met Mr. Shovel.  Oh well.

So, then, I really grilled dinner!  Mini Yukon gold potatoes are in the foil packets – scrubbed, cut in half, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper.  Om nom nom!

Sunday, of course, was Father’s Day and we (being Thing 2 and me) took our guy to Momma’s Place for breakfast.  It’s slightly unfortunate that there’s no “Papa’s Place” where we live but Momma just makes some darn good food.  We love her.

Then, my sailor and I did some RV “window shopping” and then hit up a little joint on the beach for a late lunch.  We have a vintage (as in 1971) Shasta but that little cutie is lacking air conditioning and camping without air conditioning in Florida is really only possible maybe one week out of the year.  So, we’re browsing for something a little more modern – with a/c.  Very important.

Isn't that the cutest?!

Isn’t that the cutest?!

Lunch was blackened grouper.  Yes, it should be blacker.  But, it was pretty tasty and there was this cute pooch totally sleeping in a bar chair so, it was all good.

More blueberry recipes!

Okay, so, you do realize I just bought 24 pints of blueberries, right?  You know that means I’m going to be making all sorts of stuff with blueberries in it.  Duh.  🙂  This recipe is totally easy and super delicious and … is actually LIGHT!  Nope, not kidding. 🙂  I used Breyer’s Natural Vanilla ice cream.  It’s the closest you’ll find to homemade.  And, it’s delicious.  Hey, it’s ice cream.  OF COURSE it’s delicious!
